Here’s a short clip demonstrating how to destroy Bee Server, the miniboss in Hellbat’s stage, with a single combo, eliminating the long wait time between its attacking cycles. It does require a number of EX Skills and a Cyber Elf, making it exclusive to New Game Plus runs, but it’s fairly simple to learn and pull off. Here’s how it works.

Minibosses in Z3 share their invincibility and damage mechanics with proper bosses. In Bee Server’s case, it has 32 HP, is a mid-air target, and lacks an elemental weakness. This combination of factors greatly limits your options offensively. To demolish Bee Server in one cycle, you need to make efficient use of each slot in the combo priority chart. Sadly, the potentially simple combo of Orbit Shield, charged Saber, Split Heavens, Saber Smash, and Rolling Slash just barely falls short, dealing a total of 31 damage. Of those attacks, the charged Saber is the least effective, leaving combo values 2 and 3 unused, jumping straight to 4 on the priority chart with Split Heavens. Thankfully, Zero’s trusty pistol comes to the rescue here.

The key to victory is to supplant the charged Saber with a volley of fire from Blizzard Arrow. Z3’s Buster EX Skills are highly unique, greatly altering the function of the weapons. Blizzard Arrow specializes in being a close-range powerhouse. It can land a total of 4 hits—the initial ball plus 3 icicles—which occupy a range from 1 to 4 on the priority chart. To neutral bosses, the ball deals 5 damage, with each subsequent icicle adding 2, for a total of 11.

By following Orbit Shield with Blizzard Arrow and switching the Shield back to the Saber, you can let Bee Server get hit by the ice ball and first two icicles, then interrupt Blizzard Arrow with Split Heavens before the third icicle hits. Timed correctly, you’ll get 7 damage instead of just 2 from the third icicle. The first three hits of Blizzard Arrow deal 9 damage as opposed to the charged Saber’s 8, a perfect cure to the problem.

Now for timing. To start, you’ll need to equip the requisite EX Skills, Malthas, Buster, Shield, the Ice Chip, and Double Jump. It’s not explicitly necessary, but Double Jump reduces the strictness of the timing required while also looking more stylish. The combo is absolutely doable without it, though.

I walk forward to the right side of the room to begin, bringing Zero closer to the right door, simulating what you’d do in a real run to save time. In isolation, which side you pick doesn’t matter; Orbit Shield will tear through the Mellnets regardless, provided your throw timing is solid. Pay attention to the rhythm of the red lights adorning Bee Server; those are an easy visual cue to follow. Begin counting from 1 as Crash III starts playing. Just as the third pulse of light begins to fade, use Orbit Shield. Next, jump up as the seventh pulse of light begins to fade. This should result in an immediate hit with Orbit Shield as it revolves around Zero, which you can follow up by releasing Blizzard Arrow ASAP.

Once you’ve switched to the Saber and landed, take care to avoid using Split Heavens too early. If you launch upward at the exact moment you land, you’ll end up overwriting the second icicle from Blizzard Arrow in addition to the third, meaning the combo will deal insufficient damage. A very brief wait on the ground is all that’s necessary. Let go of the attack button when Split Heavens registers as a hit so you can double jump without waiting for the full animation to play. Double Jump affords just enough height to hit Bee Server with the top of Saber Smash’s hitbox without having to land first, though, as I mentioned, it’s just barely possible to forgo Double Jump and still have enough time to land the Rolling Slash right as Bee Server closes its weak point.

With just a bit of practice, this combo becomes very reliable. It saves a lot of time, so I highly recommend giving it a try.
