Is this twist with Alice better than the original backstory?

To be fair, an immortal mummy probably never would have been easy to implement into the story. This route hasn’t offered much regarding our cast, but we do know there’s a connection between Tenmyouji and Clover now. The ending of the first game ties directly into Clover’s story, and the same figure from the desert is Alice. So, where does this leave Tenmyouji? He wasn’t in that ending, was he?
