Recently I've started playing some old games again and this was one of those which I always loved but could never beat without using savestates.
The most important thing in this game is to be as efficient with your weapons and items as possible, not wasting too much stuff. As you can see, in the end I got almost 20 medikits and I would have EASILY been able to beat the rest of the game, but I wasn't able to save all the neighbors and so I got a pretty cheap game-over. Also, I'd highly suggest to go through as many secret levels as possible, because they always give you good weapons and 1-Ups.

I'm not sure if I'll try this again some time, it was very frustrating to lose at this game like this, because there isn't really much you can do...
