What's the deal with Aloha? Am I from Hawai'i?
That's a nope. I was born and raised in Oakland California to Texans and currently live in New England.

My grandparents would snowbird to the Big Island when it got too cold in California, and they taught me about the Aloha Spirit. I spread it to honor them, and their adopted Winter Home.

My original username on Twitch was Crawforgarten, which is kind of German for "House of Crawford's", the suffix -garten meaning "garden", and shows up in words like Kindergarten, Biergarten, etc...

I would pop in chat, say Aloha, and the streamer who couldn't say Crawforgarten would respond "Aloha Craw". And I realized that's a way better username than Crawforgarten ever was.
