As I approach the keypad for the large powered door, I suddenly receive a radio transmission... from a strange man who calls himself Red. From the way he speaks, I can tell he's quite unstable, possibly insane; but he seems to want to help, and he points us in the right direction, though getting to the tunnel he speaks of is proving to be difficult, what with all the devil dogs walking around the area.

ABOUT THE GAME:

Penumbra: Overture (2007), by Frictional Games, is the first chapter of a survival horror series that preceded the more well-known game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It features much of the same elements - a dynamic physics engine, gameplay that emphasizes puzzle-solving, and instilling psychological horror based on an inability to fight back against the game's monsters.

The story begins when our character, Philip, receives a mysterious letter from the father he never knew shortly after his mother's funeral. A series of clues leads Philip to an isolated part of Northern Greenland, where he begins searching for answers.
