OVERVIEW
In this work, which is the 6th work of Capcom 's fighting fighting game of Marvell Comics , almost all the characters of the series work so far have appeared, and the new character is added, and the total number of usable characters is 50 Beyond. Also, it has been changed to 3on 3 from the conventional VS. series 2on 2 battle.
It is popular in the United States rather than Japan, and it is chosen every year as the event of fighting game nationwide competition "Evo" in the United States.
On September 19, 2002, game software that ported this work on PlayStation 2 and Xbox was released. After that, distribution of download version started on Xbox 360 on July 29, 2009 and on PlayStation 3 on August 12, the same year [2] , on April 25, 2012 the download version was also started on iOS . Both the Xbox 360 version and the PS 3 version had free trial versions available for only 6 characters. In December 2013 Xbox 360 version · PS 3 version is finished delivery, iOS version has been discontinued on June 30, 2014.
BACKGROUND
Although it was not seen much in the past 2D fighting, this work places the character rendered with 2D (dot picture) on the background expressed by 3D (polygon). Later on, " CAPCOM VS. SNK 2 MILLIONAIRE FIGHTING 2001 " also has the same approach as this work.
MUSIC
Shibata Tetsuya and Takano Mitsuhiko are in charge of composition. In this work, music is prepared not on a character unit basis but on a stage basis, and depending on the stage BGM has something entered with vocals instead of instrumental. About this vocal staff is staff roll and it is regarded as a secret.
character
In order to avoid memory shortage by the system where a maximum of 6 people appear on the screen at one time, the character's dot was somewhat reduced compared to the previous work. All of the characters are cutting motion of advancing guard, huge characters such as Jaguar Note, Black Heart etc are also reduced in normal pattern paintings. The victory message has also been cut, and even when the game is over, the score is only counted.
The game received positive reviews from critics, who praised its gameplay, visuals, and character roster, while criticizing its soundtrack and initial lack of online multiplayer support outside Japan. Following its release, Capcom lost the use of the Marvel Comics license, putting the series on a decade-long hiatus. In April 2010, Capcom announced the development of a sequel, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, which was later released in February 2011.
