All over the world, military organizations work around the clock to build vehicles that would stand unmatchable! From the US to North Korea, Russia to the UK and all the way to China, these guys would do anything possible to make their defence systems top-rated. As such, they spend billions to make that happen. Today, I'm going to introduce you to some of those machines built as a product of the world power race, especially #1. So watch out for that one. Here are 10 of the most expensive military machines ever built!
Number 10: The MRAPs
The MRAPs are the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles produced as part of a United States program designed to build light-tactical machines. These machines, as claimed, were invented for one thing and one thing only: to withstand Improvised Explosive Devices and ambush attacks, particularly during the Iraqi War in 2007. Back then, several US soldiers were vulnerable to hand-made explosives from the insurgents. So, to tackle this, the US government came up with a program that costs almost $45 billion and the MRAPs were among the success of that project. According to verified analytics, a single MRAP measures 9 feet, weighs 19 tons and costs about $1M or less. Quite expensive for an ordinary tank but these vehicles were extraordinary. Because beneath each MRAPs was a special hull that can deflect bomb blasts and shrapnel away from its passengers. In 2004 alone, almost 300 hand-held explosives were focused on a handful of MRAPS and not a single soldier was lost. Yet, some people claim that the prices of these MRAPs were way too high for armored humvees.

Number 9:The P-8A Poseidon
Unlike the name, the P-8A Poseidon isn't the king of the sea. Instead, it's an American military airplane designed for the United States Navy but not for them alone. It is also used by several defence systems worldwide including Australia, Norway, India, and even the United Kingdom. But that shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, the aircraft was built by the same company that designed the Boeing 737 airplane. Although, the Poseidon is meant to be far more efficient than the commercial planes. From maritime patrols to long-range missions like hunting submarines, surveillance attacks, search and rescue missions, the Poseidon is a good fit. From what I heard, this next-generation 737-airplane can even sink a whole ship! But then again, nothing that good and useful comes cheap. As at 2012, 11 of these multi-sensor airplanes cost $1.9 billion. By 2013, the price scaled up to about $2.04 billion for just 13. And by 2016, just 8 of those machines can be bought at that price with an additional $2 billion.

Number 8: The V-22 Osprey
One glance at the V22 Osprey might confuse many people as to whether it's a plane or a helicopter. But with its two tilt-rotor mechanisms and the fuselage of a plane, I say it's a hybrid of both! In fact, it combines the high-speed cruise ability of an airplane with the conventionality of a helicopter. As such, this particular military vehicle is built mainly for versatility with just one of them costing $75M! But then, that whopping price is not because the V22 Osprey can perform many roles ranging from carrying a heavy payload to reaching destinations that were previously considered impossible. Instead, the expensive costs of the aircraft lay within its designs. For one, its rotors are driven by a Rolls Royce turboshaft that allows it to hover, take off and land vertically. Then again, these rotors are modified with special propellers that allow the V22 to provide a forward tilt for faster speeds. From what I could get, a V22 Osprey can attain a top speed of 227 mph and travel almost 1200 miles while running on just one fuel tank!

Number 7: The F-35 Lightning II
The F35 Lightning II is one of the stealth fighting aircraft worldwide. But by far, it is the largest of the bunch. Not only that, but it's also one of the latest, powered by 5th generation technology. That plus many other first-class features like an advanced situation awareness intelligence and a super integration mission system, the F35 strike fighter is highly survivable and of course, lethal!
