This video covers 10 steps on how to actually choose a violin from a bunch you may be trying. Whether that be in a shop, or having a few sent to your home to try out.
This is 'MY' process, but I feel it works and is methodical rather than going in all willy nilly darting about trying out this and that and getting confused.

1. Take your current violin and bow: 04:10
2. Take music you can play well: 04:41
3. Take 3 pieces of music: 06:03
4. Choose from a small number of violins at a time: 07:50
5. Know nothing about each violin (optional, but my preference): 08:27
6. Start by playing YOUR violin as a foundation: 10:59
7. Next, choose the second of the new violins to compare: 11:54
8. Put the violin you didn't like from the previous two, into a 'no' pile: 12:14
9. Carry on this process: 12:42
10. Repeat the process again to eliminate further and/or play the 'no' pile: 13:10

RECOMMENDED VIOLINS:
Fiddlerman violins are the only violins I currently recommend. You can choose the violin to suite you depending on your budget. Remember the cheaper you go (buying rubbish from Amazon for example), the worse the violin will be (garbage most likely) and the HARDER it will be to learn - which is why Fiddlerman violins are an excellent beginners choice:
