So here's the deal with this game:
It's by far the worst game I've tried in stereoscopic 3D. Not because the game world doesn't look fucking amazing in 3D and not because 3D didn't add anything to immmersion. The 3D blows because the nVidia profile sets the convergence extremely low, such that pretty much anything beyond my sword looks flat.
The reason they did this is because the UI goes bonkers when I adjust the convergence. It gets sent off the screen with the slightest adjustment. For most of my play time with the game, I mistakenly thought that the convergence of the game world was locked. It turns out I just hadn't increased the convergence enough to make the changes apparent, which requires holding the hotkey for a LONG TIME. Yeah, the convergence is really set that low. But by time you get the convergence to a realistic setting, the UI is totally fucked up.
Not only that, but some screen effects will split along with the UI. These effects range from the glow around fires and magical weapons, to auras visible on my character's arms. Also, many full screen effects will split and make the game painful to view. Such effects are fade to black, fade to white, the visual effects from night vision, being underwater, or having low health.
But, despite all of this nVidia decided that the S3D in the game deserves an "Excellent" rating. Fuck that. I would rate it "Fair" at best. The only reason it's supposedly excellent is because the game's effects all work fine at the default convergence in nVidia's profile. But the game is so flat, it's barely worth playing in S3D. They do warn you though. The rating includes the caveat "Incorrect clipping of subviews," (sic).
