If you have already watched the latest live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon, you already know that most of the film is a slide-by-slide recreation of its original animated iteration. In fact, the latest film has 27 minutes of extra footage, which gave Director Dean DeBlois more than enough time to build his old characters and give us a much more intense premise while staying true to the source! He wanted to keep the best of what worked and find more opportunities to go deeper with the mythology and character development to flesh them out in effective ways.
