As a lot of you know, Facebook has announced that they will be dropping support for news links in Canada. This announcement was made at beginning of the month: https://www.freezenet.ca/facebook-begins-rolling-out-full-news-link-blocking-in-canada/

As you know, I have been both vocal against this and run my own small website that publishes news content: https://www.freezenet.ca/

There is a bit of good news in this. The good news is that the Freezenet website depends little on Facebook. I get very little traffic from it. The even better news, though it is early days into the blocking, is that Freezenet has not yet been blocked 1 week into this.

The thing is, Google has said that it intends on following suit with Google, though they haven't formally announced that they would be moving forward as of yet. What Facebook does to my website could be indicative of what Google does, though there are definitely no certainties. As a result, it makes me a very interested party.

So, in this video, I talk about one of the idea's I've had as a backup plan in the event the worst case scenario actually happens. In short, I might just jump all-in on YouTube. Though it isn't my main passion as long form written journalism is, it does appear to be the next logical move to make... maybe? I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on some of my ideas.

These plans aren't necessarily final, but this is what I'm kind of leaning towards at this stage. I go into detail why I'm moving this direction.
