The notion that there are no small parts, only small actors has never rang more true! The acting business is tough and everyone had to start somewhere, but we were shocked to discover how many major stars appeared in the Harry Potter Movies in very small roles and sometimes even as extras!
It’s wild to think that an actor could go from an extra in a Harry Potter movie to a Netflix star just a few years later… We’re looking at you Regé Jean-Page!
Not to mention, the father-son power duo of Domhnall Gleeson and Brendan Gleeson who both appeared in Harry Potter as Bill Weasley and Alastor Moody.
Next time you watch Harry Potter, be sure to keep an eye out for the many, many Game of Thrones actors who once upon a time visited Hogwarts with very minor roles.
Now, not only did we not recognize some of these famous faces in bit parts before, but we failed to notice one actor who actually appeared in the films as three different characters. Yes, THREE.
There are also some stars who we never would have expected to appear in the movies because they aren’t even primarily actors! Two of the most surprising names on this list are Julianne and Derek Hough - two pro dancers who graced the screen as Hogwarts students in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
