#17 Virtua Fighter 4 PS2 \\ Lau Chan in VF4 Kumite, from 7th kyu
Playing Lau Chan in Kumite mode of Virtua Fighter 4 on PS2!
0:00 - start
Corrections to my addled commentary:
2:00~ I mistakenly called a PS2 memory card a "VMU" : P
15:00~ Pretty sure I got these rank up ideas all wrong, I need to go back and re-read the FAQ if I'm going to try to talk about how ranking up works! (Or I'll just play and not worry about it, hopefully!)
22:40 - I mistakenly said throws took 8 "seconds" to execute--I meant 8 "frames" (60ths of a second) : p
27:00 - taking rank away makes sense actually if the goal of the mode is to keep the player having a decent challenge when facing opponents around their own rank
After playing the Virtua Fighter 5 games, I'd forgotten how brutal VF4 is. ; ) Just kind of a lot more straightforward getting KO'd--health bars seem to deplete a lot faster, particularly! I think I read somewhere that average health was increased from 200 to 240 between 4 and 5...could be making that up I guess but it definitely feels something like that--I kept getting knocked out when I thought I still had some time left to goof off. ; D
But it does feel like a more elemental incarnation of Virtua Fighter and I like it a lot. : )
