1942 - 1984 - Arcade Experience | 3D Reconstruction
Shortplay of the game 1942, the arcade shoot em up game by Capcom.
ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
in my regular videos, the games are played and recorded in the original aspect ratio and also using filters to simulate old CRT monitors, but in this Arcade Experience videos I take a few extra steps for a better experience. I use images found on the internet to digitally recreate the original arcade cabinets in order to create gameplay that conveys a more faithful feeling of what it was like to play this game in the arcades back in the day.
GAME INFO
1942, the shoot em up by Capcom. Designed by Yoshiki Okamoto, it was the first game in the 19XX series, and was followed by 1943: The Battle of Midway.
1942 is set in the Pacific Theater of World War II, and is loosely based on the Battle of Midway. Despite the game being created by Japanese developers, the goal is to reach Tokyo and destroy the Japanese air fleet; this was due to being the first Capcom game designed with Western markets in mind.
It went on to be a commercial success in arcades, becoming Japan's fifth highest-grossing table arcade game of 1986 and one of America's top five highest-grossing arcade conversion kits that year. It was ported to the NES, selling over 1 million copies worldwide, along with other home platforms.
GAME RECORDING INFO:
The game was scaled to 4k, without bi-linear filtering, and retaining the original aspect ratio. I also use a shader / filter that simulates a CRT Monitor (More like the way we remembered, than, the way it really was), and to use as a overlay I've created a a 3d image of the original arcade cabinet to create a nostalgic atmosphere.
