1942 is one of my favourite games from my youth.
This is me playing through the game pretty badly, I just about completed the game on this run!

I think there may be a glitch on my PCB, on 2 occassions at the beginning of the level I gained a single plane escort for some reason, I'm not sure why?

Although 1942 is a simplistic game by todays standards, it's a fun game to chase for high scores. The risk/reward element is a perfect balance. Either chase the shot down percentage bonuses, or play it safe and gain score by 500pts extra per large plane shot down. Lose a life and then that plane bonus reverts to 2000pts.

These type of twitch shooters still hold up today in my opinion.
Along with TIme Pilot and Gyruss, 1942 is high on the list of the best shooter of the early 80's.
