Anyone that knows me knows I love scrolling shooters, particularly overhead ones. I don’t know why; I just enjoy them. 1942 is a classic arcade scrolling shooter by Capcom, sadly, they never ported it to the Atari 2600. Atari were never able to recover from the video game crash of the earlier 80’s. This may have been a big reason that video game companies largely ignored the venerable console. While Capcom released 1942 in 1984, it was a rare port to the home, until arcade compilations on newer platforms, anyhow. Well, as usual, fans have taken it upon themselves to do what companies didn’t or wouldn’t.
