Donkey Kong for Atari 2600 Remake Spotted
0Donkey Kong, originally released in 1981 in arcades by Nintendo, was quite an interesting release. While this was a time of “throw anything at the wall and see if it sticks” era, the sheer idea of Donkey Kong stood out among the weird game ideas of the time. You play a blue collar man, climbing girders, in an attempt to save your girlfriend from a giant ape that kidnapped her. Yeah, “out of left field” is not even close to describing Donkey Kong accurately. Some home ports, handled by Coleco, were less than stellar (especially when compared to the ColecoVision versions). A fan has recently taken it upon themselves to show just how great the Atari 2600 version could have been.
