Back in the day you could download the .swf file of the game from the official site and just put it wherever; I had it installed in a little gaming forum I ran on my web site. ^ _^
Had to stop playing it when the major browsers and Windows stopped allowing Flash stuff to run. : P But I guess the Flash emulator this is running in avoids the ol' Flash security hazards? Anyway, it's been there on archive.org since 2020, apparently.
It's always been janky and certainly hasn't been the best version of the game for a long time now--and you can't make matches while other matches are going, as you can in say the current Android app version Zoo Keeper DX (I dunno about the multiplayer, microtransaction free-to-play Zoo Keeper Battle), which first appeared in 2011, I think, which is the only game I've had on my phone for like the past 15 years or something. ; )
And oh my gosh I'd totally forgotten that the new critter who appears on stage 7 ISN'T the pink bunnies in later versions, it's... = oo
It's interesting too how this original release showed the human characters--the zoo keeper himself, and the "cruel" zoo director--but later versions omit them. And the plot here is that the animals have fled the zoo because the director was too mean to them, and as the keeper you have to go round them back up...for more torment by the director?? Eesh! So yeah I can see why they would get rid of the human angle and just focus on the cute animals. ^ ^_
Anyway, still a fun game, still addictive, never original, just well done. Didn't get to hear the sound getting funny when you get a really long chain but had a good time nonetheless.
No hints in this version! = oo I'd forgotten that, too. Hardcore mode! ; D
(Oh man I forgot I had the GBA version of ZOOO at one point. ; D)
The credits page in the game credits "Wind-Up Manga Studio," with Masamo Kusakabe as Producer (this is all per my phone's Google Translate app 'p')--both tagged as "[ROBOT]," which I guess indicates Robot Communications, the Japanese production company who put the game out (and which is still around). The in-game credits page has a clickable link that goes to https://kiteretsu.robot.co.jp/, which no longer exists.
