1CCBBH - 628. Scramble Spirits (1 Loop Clear)
11Wasn't expecting to get this one so soon! Scramble Spirits is a little-seen shmup that runs on Sega System 24 hardware, which was the same hardware that games like Gain Ground and Crack Down used. The System 24 ran at a higher resolution than most arcade hardware of the time, making for nicer detail in terms of how many pixels they could put on the screen. Despite that, there's still something weirdly unappealing to me about the graphics.
As for the gameplay? Hoo boy. Your ship is way too slow and only has a straight-forward shot, but you can obtain little side ships for extra firepower, and can launch them out like bombs to clear the screen of bullets and do major damage. Besides the problem of the ship being way too slow (something I spent a lot of time complaining about in streams of this), but bullets are often pretty hard to see, especially on Stage 2. Yes this game has a high resolution, but they forgot to add extra pixels to making the bullets visible, and there's even "realistic" shell style bullets like Battle Garegga. Ugh!

The nice thing about this tournament is that it's certainly brought more "attention" to this game, as there were very few clears for it on YouTube as of a month ago, so I'm happy to throw one into the small pile, even if it was just barely a 1-loop clear that immediately died in 2-1. But I'm certainly not feeling too anxious to spend any more time on this game, lol.
