1CCBBH - 633. Robo Army (1 Credit Clear)
18It's been a while since the last time I got a new Neo-Geo 1CC... I think the last one might have been Sengoku 2, which was exactly a year ago? Figures that the next one would be another beat-em-up. I've never really been a fan of Robo Army at all, it plays a little strangely compared to most beat-em-ups of the time, as the regular attack combo is not a true combo, it's better to just back kick everything instead. And there's a lot of specific things that have to be learned as every stage has a midboss or two, which I guess is kinda cool. But the weird gameplay and high damage has always turned me off from it. Nonetheless, I did attempt to start learning it for the sake of the 1CCBBH project, only to give up when I saw the last boss. I can't think of another beat-em-up final boss who's as big of an asshole as this guy. Having an instant charge attack with zero tells or startup frames on it that also has a huge Y-axis hitbox so you can't bait it and get around it, and it does 40% of your life... quite the game design decision. In this run I actually made it to the final boss deathless, and then proceeded to lose 3 lives (still had 1 in reserve). All according to plan!
