Being an actor in a superhero movie seems like an ideal gig. You get a personal trainer to get in that superhero shape and you become synonymous with some of the most enduring and iconic figures in popular culture. But it isn’t all fun and games. While it may look cool and easy to wear the Iron Man armor, in reality it’s large and bulky. And to look like an alien like Mantis or Nebula, that involves hours in a chair getting made up. Then there’s the restrictions that a company like Marvel Studios might put on the actors that appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, like being available for reshoots or toy modeling or having to have a clean social media history. From difficulties getting a drink to using the facilities to long days even after the shooting has ended, being a superhero for the big screen is hard work whether you’re billionaire Tony Stark or scientist Bruce Banner. To create a shared universe that has both the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in it with talking raccoon Rocket and tree monster Groot, there are a lot of hoops actors have to jump through to maintain continuity and bring the fantastic world of Marvel to life.
