In 2001 Sega stunned its fans and the games industry by announcing its plans to discontinue their Dreamcast console, exit the home console hardware market and to focus on becoming a third-party publisher. These announcements came about as a result of mounting financial losses largely due in part to the failure of the Saturn and Dreamcast consoles to gain substantial market penetration.

This special broadcast, first aired on the TV channel Ex Machina in 2001, takes a look at Sega's history in the industry, the highlights of the Dreamcast and attempts to forecast what the future might hold for the company as a third-party software publisher/developer.

This recording was originally made several years ago on VHS so sound and video quality may be degraded.
