4708 Hogwarts Express from LEGO Harry Potter is from the first wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets in 2001 and unboxing this vintage LEGO set was like opening up a time capsule. As well as the Hogwarts Express was a 2001 LEGO catalog, a mail-in postcard for LEGO's Shop at Home service and a free LEGO Harry Potter poster showing the 2001 Harry Potter sets.

The 2001 Hogwarts Express is made up of three components including the Hogwarts Express engine, a carriage which connects using magnetic LEGO couplers and platform 9 3/4 at London's Kings Cross Station. There's a neat portal where Harry, Ron and Hermione can reach platform 9 3/4 via a rotating muggle ticket machine before joining The Hogwarts Express.
Motorizing the LEGO Hogwarts Express 4708 from 2001 is surprising easy if you have the right parts. 4708 is built on standard LEGO train base plates and the wheels can be swapped out for a 9V LEGO train motor and some bogeys to help the LEGO Hogwarts Express to navigate corners. You will see the 4708 Hogwarts Express motorized and running on LEGO train tracks and hear a brief history on how the Hogwarts Express came to be.
I really hope you enjoy this vintage LEGO Harry Potter 4708 Hogwarts Express unboxing, speed build and review video and my how to motorize the Hogwarts Express hints and tips. If you do, a thumbs up is always very welcome and don't forget to subscribe for more classic LEGO Harry Potter set reviews.
