2004Scape localhost RuneScape RSPS on Windows with Desktop/Start Menu Shortcuts
https://wiki.realmofespionage.xyz/gam...
These are my notes on how to deploy 2004Scape Server, all-upstream code, and ran with the latest tools on Windows 10 (should be fine on 11 too). I'm interested to hear feedback! This is not a repack: my notes give you the convenience of setting it up proper, ease of maintaining it over-time, and easy to run and move data anywhere, much better than a repack! If you like the idea of your own singleplayer RuneScape, you've come to the right place!
0:45 - 1:32 is a lengthy first-time server start-up due to the update script (npm clean) and can be skipped past in the video. Subsequent server starts are quick (2:36)
I also have notes and a video for Linux with an integrated Desktop Launcher: • 2004Scape localhost RuneScape RSPS on...

This is more old-school than Old School RuneScape and a real nostalgia trip! 2004Scape is free and open-source code based on RuneScape build 225 (May 18th, 2004), high-quality with rapid development, and able to be self-hosted! This is "the" ultimate solo self-found, no bot, no RWT-influenced experience! This can be "your" old-school RuneScape server, no latency, all hosted on your PC, with character data under your control (roll it back in-case of a T-bow time-warping along with the entire related skill, destroy content with dream 99s, have 20 accounts and flex automation, host it at a LAN party, whatever you want). I've been waiting for a project like 2004Scape for RuneScape for years! You can script and dev your own content, run and make your own bots, design bosses, or just stick to PvE solo :p That's the freedom and power of FOSS, and 2004Scape is the best RSPS project I've seen to embrace this while also providing authenticity out-the-box (Jagex-like, like blizz-like)! I'm very interested to see more RSPS projects embrace FOSS for high-quality open development like WoW servers with TrinityCore and CMaNGOS (I started back in the Antrix and Ascent days :p)
Are you curious what RuneScape was like without all the modern, speed-runner quality-of-life? You're in for a treat the first time you use a stove :p I'm soloing all the content possible, no cheating, all vanilla, and I challenge anyone else to give it a go too! Can you play RuneScape as it was back in the day when convenience didn't reign? I have a progress photo album here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...
You can host this as-is on LAN (with the firewall rule), over a VPN Hamachi-style (rip Evolve), and even full-blown public! I highly recommend looking into ".env" config and seeking tips about securing a 2004Scape server for outside/WAN use (this video is in dev mode without account auth)
If you aren't interested in hosting a 2004Scape server, you can still experience old-school RuneScape! They have an official server: https://2004scape.org/
I encourage you to post any issues encountered to their Discord or https://github.com/2004Scape/Server/i... to help improve it! I'm playing the content and contributing to an open-source project at the same time :p I also encourage you to read their Mission Statement https://github.com/2004Scape This project is no-joke: they've converted the official Java applet to run in modern browsers with HTML5 (video is with no-frills Firefox 128), and re-created the original May/June 2004 RuneScape website all in the name of authenticity https://2004scape.org/ It'll be big news when they go into open Beta in the near-future https://2004scape.org/news

Self-host all the things, relive nostalgia, and avoid the financially-motivated gachas and agendas being pushed today!
After about a week of solo RS like this, I'm loving it! I'll have to write up a blog post about this eventually (I'm out of description room here :p) but the overall less-stress of playing RS like this is awesome!
