When you think of American muscle cars, the 2015 Dodge Challenger may not be your first thought, but with an updated transmission and some cool new styling, the latest Challenger is ready to do just that: challenge. Here are five reasons to check out this legendary Dodge.
Impressive Styling
The 2015 Dodge Challenger is known for its unique styling, and the current 1971-inspired version is just as impressive as any. The quad projector LED headlights and the new split grill and taillights really give the Challenger a styling edge. The HEMI models boast a pretty functional hood intake, and you can also opt for the racing stripe exterior package.
Interior Features
With its retro-themed interior, the Challenger doesn't lose touch with its ancestry. Standard features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as a 6-speaker audio system and a 6-way power driver's seat. You can also add an 8.4-inch Uconnect display screen with USB/iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as heated front seats.
Upgraded Transmission and Miles Per Gallon
Dodge revamped the 6-speed automatic transmission on base models to an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. It now returns 19 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is a 9 percent improvement over previous versions. For V8 models, such as the R/T and SRT, there is an optional 6-speed manual transmission, which delivers a combined 19 mpg.
Interior Space
Interior room is usually pretty limited among muscle cars, but the Challenger is surprisingly practical. It can seat five adults with ease, and the trunk has a class-leading 16.2 cu ft. for storage.
Solid Engine Performance
Our base SXT model has a healthy 3.6-liter V6 rated at 305 horsepower. And when you bump up to the R/T, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and new Scat Pack model's 485 hp will definitely outdo the competition. If you're looking for the top dog, the SRT Hellcat pumps out 707 hp and does 0-60 miles per hour in less than 4 seconds.
