The Mini is an unusual sort of car, or at least the new Mini is. Originally conceived by Sir Alex Issigonis as an alternative to the big, gas guzzling, three box designs common in the 1950s. It was so successful that it was produced for forty-one years in what was fundamentally its original form and shape.
With the third generation new Mini arriving last year, it now receives the hi-po John Cooper Works treatment, with hot hatch looks and performance. Even though it’s still a Mini, the Hardtop continues to grow and is bigger than the previous generation, making it more functional, but losing some of that XS-sized charm.
