When shopping for a large SUV crossover, more than likely you are looking for top-notch reliability and that's one of the Honda Pilot's specialties. We have five reasons the 2016 Honda Pilot can definitely fly with the best of them.
Room to Roam
The Pilot has a generous three rows which accommodate eight people, except for the Elite trim that seats seven, as it has second-row captains chairs. Unlike others in its class, the 60/40-split third row offers a bit more headroom and legroom, so that not just small children can ride in the very back.
Sleek Styling
At a glance, one might argue there are resemblances to its relative, the Honda CR-V. The all-new Honda Pilot has a more modern, sleek design. It's now lighter than before and features standard 18-inch alloys and privacy glass in the rear, whereas the EX-L model is equipped with LED running lights and a sunroof.
Versatile Interior
Typically, 3-row crossovers see lots of action in the entry and exit department. With a cargo max of 83.9 cu ft., the Pilot has sufficient interior space. The EX-L model features second-row seats that slide forward and tilt electronically, which makes maneuvering in and out much more efficient.
Standard Features
The 2016 Pilot offers five different trim levels, but even the base LX model is equipped with a rearview camera, and a 6-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Pilot also has a tilt-telescopic steering wheel and power accessories all the way around. One step up to the EX model gives you keyless ignition among with some added safety features. If you want to go the whole nine yards, the Elite comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof and a heated steering wheel.
Ride Comfort
Honda ensured the Pilot with a soft and smooth ride and a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 280 horsepower. It handles well in turns for its size and delivers a fairly smooth ride on bumpy roads. Plus, it returns a satisfactory 22 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving in doing so.
Autotrader Says
With more than ample space, solid fuel efficiency and excellent reliability, the 2016 Honda Pilot is a great family-friendly crossover. If you're in the market, you might want to put this one on your list.
