2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4 Los Angeles Auto Show
2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4 Debut At 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show
While it seems the Porsche 911 Targa hasn’t been with us that long and perhaps it hasn’t, but with the mid cycle refresh of the 991.2, the new Targa debuted in Los Angeles.
It still carries the wider bodywork of the all wheel drive 911s and that complex Targa roof mechanism, but most noteworthy it gets all of the mechanical updates of the refreshed 911. It remains the most stylish and visually distinctive model in the 911 range.
The refresh means there’s the new three litre twin turbo charged flat six and power is up in both Targa 4 and Targa 4 S spec. in the 4S, the engine makes 420 horsepower and 368 pounds of torque – and that bump in torque promises to be this car’s killer app. In fact, with the sport chrono option, the Targa 4S will do zero to sixty in 3.6 seconds. That’s just mega.
The standard PASM suspension rides 10mm lower than regular 911s and rear wheel steer is optional.
Inside, the Sport Chrono option adds a drive mode switch, similar to the 918. There’s the new 7 inch PCM touchscreen with Apple Car Play and available wifi.
This new 2017 Targa goes on sale in April 2016 and the Targa 4 starts at $108,600 US and $124,100 Canadian.
