As the new year comes to a close, I want to take a chance to casually reflect on the core videos and the state of my channel this year, and talk about my plans for 2019 as well!

I asked some of you on YouTube and Twitter for questions about my core videos this year, and I've selected a few to answer below!

Jiozak (Patreon supporter):
"How do you come up with core video ideas?"
Since I'm a pretty big enthusiast of obscure or novel things myself, if I come across things like those in the wild or in my collection, I would definitely love to make a video about that. I also occasionally look back to some of my personal experiences and memories, and that's when you get something like my Old Mario Flash Games video.

JoHNNy_352 (Patreon supporter):
"Will we ever get footage of you playing that one Smooth Moves microgame?"
No.

PokeFanChris1, NintendoGamerChris:
"What was the hardest core video for you to make?"
It's a tie between the Pablo Belmonte video and the 3D Land video. Both videos involved quite a bit of research and tons of footage gathering. I had to acquire some assistance translating Spanish for the Pablo Belmonte video, and the 3D Land video took a few tries to get right since I got a capture card and a mic upgrade in the middle of it all.

TheBlandIdea101:
"What do you think was the best thing to happen to your channel this year?"
I was very fortunate to get in touch of many different content creators this year on social media, and am very thankful to get some shoutouts from people such as RelaxAlax and Scott The Woz! Their kindness has helped my videos reach a broader audience, and I also thank each and every one of you that has shared my content with others over the years.

Giantfirering28:
"How long would you say does it take to come up with a thumbnail that draws people's attentions?"
Eh, not too long to be honest. I just try to convey the general hook of the video in the thumbnail without using clickbaity faces, titles and all that.

YoshoSaga:
"Have you ever struggled to come up with comedy for your videos?"
Comedy is definitely an experimental thing for me. Sometimes I'll immediately find room for a joke when I'm drafting the script, other times I find jokes to be a bit unfunny or dated so I remove them. It kinda just feels like instinct to me, but if I had any advice to give for comedy, I'd just say don't force it when there's no need to.
