Root is the 2018 Game Of The Year that has players taking on the roles of various woodland factions vying for control of their home clearing, set in a lush forest and displayed on wonderfully illustrated boards, cards, and tokens. This is likely one of the most brilliantly illustrated and unique games you've ever played, but is that enough to call this unbalanced fully asymmetrical strategic throw-down game of the year?

Also, sorry this review is a little less structured and a little more 'ranty' than my others. This is a very large game to explain from a rules perspective, so it was very difficult to cover in less than 30 min.
