To start 9th Gen gaming do we NEED to choose between the Xbox Series X vs PS5 vs Switch vs PC?

November 2020 saw the (rocky) launches of Xbox Series X vs PS5 and earlier in the year saw the Nintendo Switch out sell both PlayStation and Xbox by an order of magnitudes. And behind it all PC gaming has flourished but not without it's own terrible launches.

Scalpers might be making it difficult to get a new console but is it worth it to spend the extra money right now? Are the new consoles worth the upgrade? Should we just let Xbox Series X vs PS5 play out through the holidays and pick up one in 2021?
