The upcoming 2021 Ram 5500 truck is getting further upgrades. This model is very versatile as it allows you to re-body the truck for various purposes. Its chassis cab variant is quite impressive. Design-wise, Ram 5500 is identical to the rest of the lineup and models such as Ram 3500 and Ram 4500. A couple of visual tweaks will happen and even the interior will suffer small refinements. Of course, the highlight of this truck is its performance.

This model is using a reliable 6.4-liter V8 and it delivers amazing towing capacity. As we said, this truck is extremely versatile and it represents a true workhorse in the markets. On the other hand, we can call Ram 5500 a heavy-duty commercial vehicle. It is also used as the ambulance vehicle and for other different purposes.

Next 2021 Ram 5500 comes with an imposing presence. Its massive grille and huge horizontal headlights are dominating the front fascia. Moreover, the hood also looks powerful and generally, its design is very aggressive. The chassis cab variant comes without the bed.

There will be four trim levels where Tradesman remains base trim. On top of that, you can choose between SLT, Laramie and Limited versions. The last one is the newest one as well and it adds a couple of extra features on the outside. Each trim level comes with a unique grille and iconic crosshair grille is no longer available.

Usually, work trucks are not offering such modern or luxurious cabins. New 2021 Ram 5500 won’t look premium but it is possibly the best option in the segment. The interior still looks rugged but it is a very durable cabin with modern design. Of course, most of the interior components are shared with the Ram’s Heavy-Duty lineup.

All of the 2021 Ram 5500 configurations are using the same 6.4-liter engine. This Hemi V8 powertrain is reliable and proven. Whatsoever, it has been present for years now. Ram 5500 delivers 410 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that is standard. Optionally, you can buy a 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox with a cylinder deactivation system.

Moreover, Ram is offering a Power Take-Off system that will slightly reduce fuel efficiency. Ram is even offering a less powerful engine with 370 hp and 430 lb-ft of twisting power. Still, all models are available with the Deceleration Fuel Shut-Off system that stops the fuel flow while decelerating. Lastly, a revised version of the iconic 6.7-liter Cummins engine is available. This turbodiesel powertrain is capable of producing 360 horses and 800 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to such a high level of torque, Ram 5500 can tow up to 35,220 pounds.

The price of the approaching 2021 Ram 5500 starts at $40,000. As we said, there will be four trim levels with Limited as the range-topping variant. The manufacturer will release its all-new model later this year, probably in the second half of 2020.
