I looked all over the place for where the buttons for changing the document background are and all the documentation talked about old UI layouts. Here I demonstrate where one can find the very well hidden button for changing the document background.

With the document background changed to 0 opacity, you'll export with a transparent background rather than the default white.

Let me know if I'm not making any sense with this explanation. I'm a rambler.
