28Jeep has taken a bold step into the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the Wagoneer S, a groundbreaking luxury electric sport utility vehicle designed for the United States. Officially unveiled during an event in New York, this impressive vehicle brings 600 horsepower to the table and is priced at seventy-one thousand nine hundred ninety-five dollars, signaling a new era for the brand.
Built on Stellantis’ STLA-Large platform, which also supports the new Dodge Charger, the Wagoneer S is equipped with a one hundred point five kilowatt-hour battery. It promises a range exceeding three hundred miles, though Jeep has not disclosed the specific charging speed in kilowatts. However, with the Dodge Charger capable of charging at up to three hundred fifty kilowatts, it is expected that the Wagoneer S will deliver competitive fast-charging performance. Jeep states that the vehicle can recharge from twenty to eighty percent in just twenty-three minutes when using high-powered direct current fast chargers.
The design of the Wagoneer S departs from Jeep’s traditional boxy look. It is smaller and sleeker than the gasoline-powered Wagoneer, measuring 192.4 inches in length compared to its sibling’s 214.7 inches. The exterior features a modern, aerodynamic silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.29, enhancing efficiency. Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille is retained, though it now serves as a purely decorative element and includes illumination for nighttime visibility.
Inside, the Wagoneer S blends luxury and technology with forty-five inches of screen space across multiple displays for the driver and passengers. The Launch Edition includes a premium nineteen-speaker McIntosh sound system, underscoring its high-end appeal.
Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, the Wagoneer S delivers 617 pound-feet of torque and accelerates from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. While Jeep has not highlighted off-road capabilities, the model does include snow and sand driving modes, advanced safety features, and a home level-two charger.
Set to arrive in dealerships this fall, the Wagoneer S could expand into a broader lineup, potentially including gasoline-powered options in the future. This launch signals Jeep’s commitment to innovation and its entry into the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
