2024 Skoda Kodiaq Specs Released
Skoda unveiled the Kodiaq back in September 2016 as a larger alternative to the Volkswagen Tiguan. After undergoing a facelift in April 2021, this spacious SUV is now ready for its successor. Although the official reveal is scheduled for the upcoming fall season, we've managed to catch a glimpse of the second-generation model.
When it comes to the design and specifications of the 2024 Kodiaq, Skoda has taken an evolutionary approach, opting for a conservative update rather than radical changes. This means that the overall look and features will remain similar to its predecessor.
Let's talk about the engines available for the 2024 Kodiaq. Skoda will offer a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter TSI engine that produces 150 horsepower. This power will be transmitted to the front wheels through a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. If you prefer a more potent option, there's a 2.0 TSI engine with 204 horsepower, coupled with all-wheel drive (AWD) and a direct-shift gearbox (DSG). On the diesel side, you can choose between a 2.0 TDI engine generating 150 horsepower for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) model and 193 horsepower for the AWD version. Both diesel engines come with the same dual-clutch automatic transmission.
For the first time in a Skoda SUV, the Kodiaq will be available as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This means it will combine a 1.5 TSI engine with an electric motor, resulting in a combined power output of 204 horsepower. The power will be transferred to the road through a six-speed DSG. The PHEV variant boasts a 25.7-kWh battery pack, which grants it a pure electric range of more than 62 miles. When the battery runs low, it can be recharged through DC charging at a maximum rate of 50 kW, or alternatively, using AC charging with a maximum rate of 11 kW.
In a recent video showcasing the 2024 Kodiaq, the vehicle is technically camouflaged, but the disguise is thin enough to reveal most of the exterior design. Although Skoda has teased a Modern Solid design language for its next-generation electric vehicles, the new Kodiaq does not fully embrace this style. It retains the distinctive double headlight design typically found in SUVs, alongside a wide corporate grille that we're all familiar with. If the elements in the video are genuine, the front bumper features prominent vertical air curtains that optimize aerodynamics by directing the airflow.
Skoda plans to unveil the new Kodiaq in the fall, coinciding with the introduction of the next-generation Superb, available in both liftback and wagon body styles. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting new releases!
