3 Ideas for Ring Con Games (I NEED TO START A DEVELOPMENT COMPANY) - Ring Fit Adventure Round 10
3 Ideas for Ring Con Games (I NEED TO START A DEVELOPMENT COMPANY) - Ring Fit Adventure Round 10.
Script:
I have just two more rounds before I beat Ring Fit Adventure forever! Spoilers, this video was supposed to come out in august, so I already beat the game by the time I am writing the script and recording this video. With that said, I will do my little update and then talk about three game ideas that should utilize the Ring-Con. Let's get that intro running!
[Jack Jenkins Intro]
First, let's get the update out of the way. With this round of Ring Fit adventure, I went from level three hundred sixty-six to level four hundred and one. A pretty big improvement as far as levels gap are conserved. I am at the point where there won’t be any new improvements or additions to my character so leveling up is really only for the attack bonus now. I also went from world fifty-one to completing world sixty-five in the thirty days. Just four more worlds left to complete, which is why the next round will be much shorter and will be my last. I could also buy every outfit in the game to complete my collection. At this point, I am incredibly bored with it, but I have two weeks left and am in my last round. After three hundred days… being bored with a game is normal, so congratulations on this game.
Here is my sheet of the game over the thirty days of playing. You can see that I played for about twenty-four minutes on average and burned around two hundred and twenty-five calories per play session. I was at about two hundred and ninety-five pounds during the play session which is why the calories are so high.
Now let's get into the fun of this video… ideas about what kind of games should utilize the joy-con controller. It seems like the tooling for the Ring-Con is not available to developers outside of Nintendo themselves as far as I can research. There are third party driver available but that is for PC / Windows through a virtual Xbox 360 controller rather than something that will run on the Switch. It's a shame since the game gets old, and then you are left with yet another useless peripheral from Nintendo. Does anybody else have like three Zappers lying around? Yeah, me too. So while these ideas are not possible with the lack of an interface it would still be cool and fun to think of any possibilities.
The first game is something I read online that immediately got me excited at the possibilities. That is an update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that uses the Ring-Con and leg straps to control. The idea is simple. You are in first-person view and can rotate the Ring-Con left or right to steer like the Wii Wheel, which is yet another useless peripheral. You will sit down on a couch or a stool and put the leg strap on your foot. You’d probably need tape or something for the extra strap room. Then you will put your foot down to mimic pressing the gas pedal. You’ll also need another legs trap and Joycon on your other foot for breaks to make it even. To use your weapon, you have to squeeze the Ring-Con, which will throw the item in front of you, or pull it to throw it behind you. This game mode would be like a fun side mode like the VR breadth of the wild experience rather than something that’s a mainstay. I don’t think you could even do something like this online well. However, as a side thing I think it could be a ton of fun. Plus, having Ring-Con support in Nintendo's Best-selling game could add some copies to Nintendo's ninth bestselling game. Jeez, Ring Fit adventure has sold over seventeen million copies… that's insane.
The possibilities of this idea occurring is zero but man I wish it would. Nintendo is adding all these levels to Mario Kart already so a small update like this could be good. Even if it’s limited to just a few tracks I think it would be worth it. If not then at least brining back the first-person mode, which was in Mario Kart 7, would make me happy.
Next up is a game idea that I've wanted to implement for some time but just never had the time nor experience to really dig in. The idea is a pretty simple fitness game. It's a jumping Jack simulator inspired by the Jump-Rope Challenge game released by Nintendo at the start of COVID. The game is simple, you play as a Jack Russell Terrier who does jumping Jacks to defeat an alien invasion. Everybody knows that Aliens hate jumping jacks. There are a ton of different jumping jack variations that I can add to the game, and a few of them will include the Joy-Con. Utilizing the Joycon, you will make a regular jumping jack motion with your legs and then squeeze the Ring-Con. That is one option, with the other being squeezing the Ring-Con with your thighs while lifting your shoulders up in a shoulder lift motion. You will unlock outfits and songs and different color dogs through coins from completing challenges and story missions. It's a simple five-dollar game idea that I’ve always thought about making.
