Here's Project Justice, one of the only times I can think of where a direct sequel to a game had an entirely different name. To show that this is a direct sequel however, Capcom made a new version of Hyo, this demonic-possessed version, the final boss of both the story mode of most teams as well as the final boss of free mode.

Demon Hyo is quite similar to how Hyo was in Rival Schools. Similar moves for the better part, with a few new ones here and there, more combos available to him and a few new super moves as well. Generally, he's quite powerful and easy to use, but not invulnerable, as the player must use some well-timed combos in order to defeat opponents. His most useful, and certainly obnoxious, move is a 3x qcb + P move where he slashes the opponent three times for considerable damage, and can be quite difficult to anticipate. All in all, I think he's a pretty great boss, and it was nice to see a little continuity from Capcom by showing what happens to Hyo when his madness overtakes him.

As with Rival Schools, all hidden characters and bosses are unlockable and playable in this game, even in the arcade version. Hell, the arcade Naomi version even has passwords which can be put it to unlock all the characters, similar to Capcom vs Snk. Nine hidden, actually playable characters in an arcade game is the most we've seen yet, and really quite a great move from Capcom, even if many of them are derivatives of other characters. That said, many of the hidden characters are fought numerous times in story mode before they are unlocked, which added an incredibly good mystery element to the game. This, coupled with much better and more fluid gameplay, makes Project Justice a fantastic sequel to Rival Schools. It's just a shame this was around the time Capcom went on hiatus from making fighting games, and the franchise has been left dormant ever since.
