Rival Schools was one of the games to make me start doing these videos. I'd been playing it on and off here and there for perhaps a couple of years, but it was only after using Pugsy's cheats that I discovered there were three fighters in the game I knew nothing about. So, I'd always fought Raizo, never seen Hyo, nor the secret version of Akira, nor Sakura. Some guides on gamefaqs I'd read didn't even mention the other three hidden characters. Frustrated by that, I started thinking of doing a thorough series of videos showing all the boss characters in fighting games to avoid that happening to other people and, well, nearly 300 videos later, I'm only around a third of the way through the ones I wish to cover.
Rival Schools, in that way at least, is quite special to me. Other than that however, it's an okay fighting game. It has that zaniness that was present in the Marvel vs. series, which I'm not too fond of because it feels quite loose in terms of controls, but it's still a pretty good fighting game. One of the best aspects is that everyone's favourite high-schooler from Street Fighter, Sakura herself, is a hidden character in the game, and plays similarly to how she did in the Street Fighter Alpha series. She was a really great inclusion however, giving the game a bit more novelty than it had otherwise. She's a good character, and certainly worth playing as.
