36 Insane Interesting Facts About The Final Destination Franchise - Explored
Every horror movie needs a good villain, but what about a villain nobody can see, hear, or, more importantly, stop? What about a villain that has had a presence in literally every other horror movie ever made, but never like this? Back when James Wong introduced fans to a new type of horror with the release of the first Final Destination movie nearly 25 years ago, it represented a clever new spin on the teen horror subgenre. But it did not exactly revive the format as that honor had already gone to 1996’s Scream, which went on to inspire a string of late- ’90s slasher films. Amidst the crowd, Final Destination found an inventive way to supply the blood- red meat of the slasher flick served with gory, on- screen deaths, without what was, until then, a key ingredient in this subgenre: a slasher. Rather than a human or even a humanoid killer, the antagonist in the Final Destination films is simply Death itself.
