#39 Virtua Fighter 4 PS2 \\ Aoi Kumite super-kick & unlocking colors : ) \\ VF4
(Slightly blurred 'cause I screwed up my video recording settings a little. : P*)
I don't play Aoi right. Her schtick is reversal moves, in which you hit a specific counter-move mirroring your opponent's attack at the precise moment in which it would have hit you. That's hard and I can't do it; I don't want to be watching my opponent's moves, I want to be hitting them! Rawr! (I've never been able to do counter/reversal moves in any fighting game--not well, anyway. : p)
So I'm bad with her. However, in VF4 they gave her a ridiculously long-range, multi-hit kick move; you just press the Kick button and her hoof shoots way out, whips up and down and mangles people. It's fun. ; D She can out-kick Jacky. : o Who needs reversals when you've got these feet of fire?
And they totally nerf her kick in the next game. So enjoy it while it's here!
This is me playing Aoi Umenokoji in Kumite mode of Virtua Fighter 4 on PS2:
0:00 - start
1:25 - Data File - checking my 8th kyu Aoi and her outfits
6:46 - Command Training - checking her throws: she can throw crouching characters (down or down-back plus all 3 buttons)
11:48 - Kumite - starting off at 8th kyu since I'd played her a little in Kumite once before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32BgIt1YcHA&list=PLZO3OPzPjIzOwIQoEjA2G8yBFO6PuLR0a&index=2&t=0s
21:51 - turned from brown to green kimono, guess I unlocked a color at 7th kyu!
30:03 - turned from green to yellow kimono, guess I unlocked a color at 5th kyu! : )
39:27 - Data File - checking unlocked colors and items
47:32 - Options - setting the menu screen to an Aoi wallpaper : )
48:44 - more Kumite!
1:08:24 - Data File - checking unlocked items and colors
Even though I don't play her right, I got pretty far--3rd kyu! I think I'll come back and at least go for unlocking her "VF1" character model at 1st dan rank.
Recorded 2/29/20 w/ PS2, OSSC, Framemeister, Elgato HD60, Hori RAPV 2017 w/ Sanwa lever & buttons, Brook Super Converter, Blue Snowball microphone
* My video recording for VF4 is supposed to go: PS2 480i x 4 to OSSC 960p, bordered to Framemeister 1080p, to OBS 1080p. But in my rush to start recording this episode, I forgot to change the Framemeister's setting from what it was on for recording from the PS3, to it instead went PS2 480i x 4 to OSSC 960p, resampled to Framemeister 720p, resampled to OBS 1080p. ; P And so you get blur, bleh.
