The Printwhisperer Holiday Tips:
Something to add to your wish list or to get for that friend or family member who has a printer…
Give the gift of NYLON! Nylon is known for its elongation properties so it can bend and stretch under stress. This means that is far more impact resistant and durable that most other 3d print filaments.
I really have grown fond of the Alloy 910 filament from Taulman. In fact I have 2 machines dedicated to strictly Nylon since so many of my customers request it now.

https://www.amazon.com/Alloy-Taulman-3D-Black-1-75/dp/B01F60XIYI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481303480&sr=8-1&keywords=alloy+910

The downside is that Nylon can be quite tricky to print until you get your machine dialed in just right.
Best results? I’ll give you the Printwhisperer’s super secret recipe for the best Nylon prints.
First: A heated bare glass bed in a MUST. PEI can work but large parts will fail eventually. I took the PEI off the Taz5 and cleaned the glass with Isopropyl Alcohol. Then a thin layer of Wolfbite Nitro is all you need:

https://www.amazon.com/WolfBite-Premium-Heatbed-Adhesion-Solution/dp/B01BPN1NE2/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481303358&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=wolfbit+nitro

Say goodbye to gluesticks this stuff is legit. Follow the instructions on the bottle. 70C is all you need on the bed. Don’t make your bed too hot, Nylon is finicky and 60-70C should be just right to keep those parts from curling.
