3D in Review for May 2 - 8, 2015 "Zina Lahr - A True Maker with Heart"
Update: If you wonder why there is silence in the opening video, I again given another take down notice from Audio Network the copyright holder.
In this episode we look at the ground breaking light capturing process that will bring the holodeck to VR. A VR tribute to Vincent Van Gogh. The Personal Bio Printing is here. Some feedback from Brad and Steve on the Moon Ray and special tribute to a real Maker with heart, who's life was tragically cut short by a hiking accident -- Zina Lahr.
Guest Crasher: James Drummond, Computer Engineer and developer of the “Honeycomb Drone”

Resin Heaven: Thoughts from the experts on the Moon Ray
Brad - I like the moonray although I don't really see how it is any different than the miicraft / projet which are pretty old at this point.
It is a uv led based pico which definitely is the way to go, but the resolution is low as are all pico's at the moment. I think TI's 1080p lightengine is 10k currently.
They are doing a film vat and tilt which is a little odd, typically you wouldn't need a tilt vat with a stretched film but I don't think it would hurt.
One a side note, someone made a similar vat for the littlerp :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxwQQ_qeUOQ
Steve - Looks like an excellent software package. I like the support generation. 100 micron is fairly standard X/Y resolution for many SLA printers, I’d like to see a higher res option in this. It looks like they are using a UV Light engine on a pico projector, along with a X/Y intensity correction mask for the DLP.
Update: I’m actually concerned that this might be another unauthorized variant of Creation Workshop. I’m going to look into it.

In closing, I leave you with this video of a true maker, whose life was cut short by tragic hiking accident
in November of 2013. I hope she is inspiring to you as she was to me. Oh, and please take an extra moment to think about safety.
