3D Printed 2 Color Diskun Famicom Mascot #Shorts
In this #YouTubeShort we show you how we went from concept to design to the final print of a color #Nintendo #Diskun Mascot on our #Monoprice #Joule #3dprinter
I love video game mascots. Nintendo, Sega, and PlayStation, all have iconic mascots. Recently, I was skimming around Thingiverse and found some really cool Logos I wanted to print. I've done many in the past, but those have all been single-color. Thanks to Chuck over at @CHEP I have been doing multi-color prints out of my 3D Printers. Diskun, the Famicom Disk system Mascot, is one of my favorites and I decided I wanted to print a 2 color Diskun.
First, I knew I wanted a yellow body with black accents. That was easy as I would adjust those settings in Cura. Once the design was set, I was off to Cura 5.1 for final adjustments and slicing. To get the print to stop for filament color swaps in Cura, first, get things set and slice it. From here, click Preview and adjust the layers on the right so you can see what layers the color change needs to occur. At this point, click the Extensions tab in the menu, then Post-processing, modify G-Code. In this menu, click "Add a Script" and select "Pause at height", Here I set that I wanted it to pause at layer 19, Park the Print Head at 20mm X and Y position, and retract 100mm at 50mm/s retraction speed. I also set it to extrude 125mm of material when I resumed the print.
The results were better than I had hoped, as this 2-tone Diskun is perfect! I've already added it to my 3D Printer eCommerce storefront! I'll have additional sizes coming soon.
