4 Ages of Daytona USA
A four way split screen video comparison of 4 different versions of Daytona USA played across the advanced stage - the two different Sega Saturn versions, the Dreamcast 2001 version and the Arcade original (being played on Model 2 Emulator). Although the Dreamcast version has actually got slightly fancier graphics, I still prefer the look of the original arcade version. I'm playing both of the Saturn versions on SSF Saturn emulator and there is a bit of graphical wonkiness in the sky of the Championship Circuit Edition. It's also worth mentioning that I found it really difficult going back to the digital controls of the Saturn versions, which is all too apparent in my driving in those versions.
I think it's fairly common knowledge amongst Daytona USA fans that the original Saturn version was a bit of a rushed disaster of a conversion, with severe pop-up, a terrible frame rate, ugly black borders (in the PAL version anyway - I'm not sure about the NTSC ones) and a lack of a multi-player mode, but it's not until you see the two side-by-side that you realise just how much better the CCE version looks (although a lot of Daytona purists prefer the original because the handling is supposed to more accurately reflect the arcade version than CCE). I've always wondered if the graphically and content superior CCE version had been the one that came out at launch, whether it might have improved the console's initial sales. I remember back when the Saturn first came out, and a lot of shops had Daytona USA running on it as a demo, a lot of my friends at the time said they wouldn't be getting one as "it looked shit". And compared to the PS1's great conversion of Ridge Racer they were right.
