On this day 40 years ago, November 23, 1984, college football witnessed one of its most iconic moments: Doug Flutie’s legendary “Miracle Hail Mary.” The Boston College Eagles were pitted against the mighty Miami Hurricanes, a powerhouse team playing on their home turf. What unfolded was a game for the ages, capped by a play that would forever etch Flutie’s name into sports history.

Flutie, a 22-year-old quarterback and a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, was having a remarkable game, amassing 424 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
