1This is it: The final episode.
I have to say, the final boss fight with just two characters on the field is... not what I was hoping for, shall we say. I may also have voiced conflicting opinions on Gann... He did grow on me, so I give him less credit during the credits than I should, but I still think he's a bit of a sleeze.
One thing I don't say in my closing thoughts is that the feeling of the game being rushed out to market, which was more pronounced with NWN2 and the content cuts in KOTOR2, was much less noticeable in Mask of the Betrayer, but still present. That makes me feel sad. There's so much talent and skill gathered in that studio, which all of their games really do demonstrate, and they dare to try so many new things (South Park, Pillars of Eternity 1 and the changes leading into PoE2, Tyranny)... It's a big relief that over the past few years they've had the time to actually finish their games. You could argue that it's a case of mismanagement and punching over their weight in the past, which is likely true, but few studios have Obsidian's ratio of games I enjoy to games I don't. Here's hoping for many more in the future!
