Video Description:

The first significant piece of Elden Ring DLC has been confirmed, and this early guide will teach you the key details you need to be aware of.

Although the developer's initial announcement was incredibly vague, it did confirm some crucial details for Elden Ring players and those who were considering visiting the Lands Between for the first time.

We want to go into detail about all you need to know about the first significant Elden Ring DLC and its release right now because anticipation is growing.

Elden Ring DLC Name!

While there had been a lot of speculation about the name of Elden Ring’s first story expansion, those rumors missed the mark. The first major Elden Ring DLC is titled Shadow of the Erdtree.

The developer’s announcement reads “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together.” Elden Ring’s story centers around the Erdtree so it’s not surprising to see the first DLC include it in the title.

Elden Ring DLC Release Date!

Unfortunately, Shadow of the Erdtree's release date was not announced by FromSoftware. The creator merely states that work is ongoing on Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring.

Shadow of the Erdtree appears to have been in the works for at least a year, having been in development since April of last year.

Elden Ring DLC Consoles!

The platforms on which the DLC for Shadow of the Erdtree will be playable were confirmed by FromSoftware, though not much else.

FromSoftware plans to release the expansion on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Steam, according to a statement on its Japanese website. Given that Elden Ring's base version supports each of these systems, there are no real surprises there.

We don’t expect any major differences between the platforms in terms of story or features, but you can expect Shadow of the Erdtree to look and play the best on Windows PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

The base version of Elden Ring runs the best on these platforms. And while you can still have a good experience on last-generation consoles, it may leave something to be desired.

Elden Ring DLC Features!

FromSoftware did provide a teaser image which you can see.

A person in white robes with long blonde hair is shown in the concept picture riding what appears to be Torrent, the player's steed in the original Elden Ring.

Although it hasn't been confirmed, there is speculation that the figure riding through the eerie landscape with what appears to be a bleeding gold Erdtree in the distance is either Miquella or Queen Marika.

The expansion is expected to include new areas, NPCs, weapons, armour, items, spells, bosses, missions, and NPCs based on FromSoftware's DLC for its Bloodborne and Dark Souls series.

Beyond that, we are unsure of anything, though Elden Ring lore specialists and data miners may fill in some of the gaps as we move closer to the game's release.
