$5 iMac Deep Clean and Reassembly
3I found this 2006 A1200 iMac on Kijiji (Canadian Craig's list/gumtree) for $5!! The seller claimed it powered on and had some "cosmetic" damage. For $5, even if it didn't function at all, why not?!
I was able to boot it in safe mode and saw a functioning OS, for about 10 minutes, before it froze, crashed and didn't boot again. It smelled like mold....I opened it up, there was more dust, rust and mold than I thought possible in a computer. So after a long hiatus and a thorough dusting I am ready to deep clean and reassemble this thing. We may even attempt a power on and see if we can load linux.
