5 Years Later, my FPV SU-35 Flies Again with a VECTOR OSD! ✈️ EPIC!!
The time has finally come... ! After 5 years grounded, Nadya (my 3rd Su-35 airframe, FPV modded) is back and kicking ass!!
I Installed the Eagle Tree VECTOR FC/OSD on my FPV Su-35, and it Turned Out totally EPIC!
Watch me take my now upgraded FPV-modded Su-35 for an exhilarating couple of aerobatic flights after re adjusting the jet for the new flight controller and re-trimming the model. The new flight controller is a model that has been discontinued now for a few years after its manufacturer closed, but it features an amazing F-16-style HUD 'on screen display' (OSD) that no other brand has been able to replicate to date! The jet is also equipped with a GPS/Compass and a pitot airspeed sensor.
This split-screen video edit will let you to compare the external views of the plane with the thrilling onboard footage, complete with the real-time flight data overlaid in the image.
The story goes as follows: back in late 2020, after 169 flights, the Su-35's former flight controller, a FeiYuTech FY-41AP died on the bench. I just plugged the battery as I was readying for another flight, and it wouldn't power up.
Selecting a replacement took quite some time, and then I was permanently busy with other projects. I also wanted to properly study the new controller's manual first, but being roughly 100 pages of documentation meant this wouldn't be a quick task. That led me to keep procrastinating this project in favor of others I could deal with faster, so the 'comeback' of my FPV jet got systematically delayed time and again. I just recently found my missing resolve and finally took the time to get everything sorted out, so the wait is finally over and the FPV Su-35 flies again! :DDD
And yes, this jet still features my old 'custom' EDFs with high kv motors, which make it very whiny compared to my other, more modern EDFs.
I'll certainly replace those fans soon enough anyway, but I decided to leave them in for the time being, as I was already changing many things at once.
The video first shows flight 171st in split screen video format featuring synchronized FPV and ground views, edited in slow motion with Ace Combat music, then it proceeds to play the previous FPV flight also in split screen format but with real audio, no music, and no slowmo. Finally, I show a couple of very quick flights using the same battery that were performed prior just to trim the jet before attempting an FPV take-off after having had the jet grounded for 5 years and replaced the flight controller and associated gear, which in addition to using different batteries would certainly cause a shift of balance.

Regarding my SU-35 setup:
This is a highly modded Freewing SU-35S. It includes an autopilot controller and an FPV head tracking visual system that makes the plane effectively a UAV/RPA.
The flight controller is the now discontinued EagleTree Vector and it also provides the OSD seen on the video signal.
Just as virtual reality 'VR' goggles are used to play videogames, here a similar technique is used to watch what the plane sees in real time just like if you were sitting in the plane's cockpit, and the camera will follow your head movements!
