As a reward for helping me reach 50 subscribers, I'm releasing this video where we revisit Baldur's Gate to demonstrate a challenge run method that I've adapted from other sources. We're calling it The Baldur Royale!

Feel free to comment below the video with your rules suggestions. The rules as I was implementing them in this video are:

1. The party must be comprised of the top five accessible living companions as soon as possible.
2. A full party must be maintained if at all possible.
3. The only way a companion can leave the game is by dying in combat with the party (exclusion for X+M, J+K?).
4. Intra-party conflict leading to deaths is okay.
5. Forced pairs must be separated without killing anyone or triggering a leave condition.
6. Leave conditions must be dealt with before they cause that companion to leave.
7. Steps can be taken to boost success (resting, buying equipment, etc.).
8. If everything above is satisfied, work towards completing the main plot.
9. Side plots are to be ignored if at all possible.

Problems (and potential Solutions):
1. Xzar, Montaron, Jaheira and Khalid all disappear if they aren't recruited by Chapter 3.
1a. Take them all to Nashkel as soon as possible - makes for a boringly uniform opening strategy.
1b. Recruit them and drop them (seems to leave them still recruitable for later - even after Chapter 3).
1c. Recruit then and store them in buildings (also don't know what this does for future recruitability).
1d. Ignore it and don't worry about it if it comes up (they're gone if you don't interact with them by Chapter 3).
1e. Ignore it and call it a loss (or a qualified run) if it comes up.
2. Need to decide what to do about recruiting lower (but more convenient) NPCs on the way to retrieving a higher but available NPC.
2. Rule #2 suggests to keep a full party at all times.
2b. This leads to shuffling NPCs around the map, so you'd need to keep track of their location.
